Is it silly to ask to have things resent

Hello guys

As a nqt in a new environment I’m a bit nervous and I wanted to ask some questions.

  1. There’s an email I got when I first started on my induction that includes info on the children but I can’t open one particular file. Do you guys think it’s okay to ask if it can be resent or is that just stupid. Should I ask if I can go in and organise them?

Also how would I do this as I don’t know them? How will I organise my room ability wise. Do I base it upon the data rather than the students

I also have no idea how to use sims at home!

Any help would be really appreciated again i know I’m being a real idiot here but I’m so nervous and anxious

The IT team will likely be in some days so just ask for it to be resent.
Have you been given permission to use sims from home? We don't get it by default.

It's fine to ask for things to be re-sent; there ought to be no problem with that. It will depend on whether any IT staff are in school, but as MrsHamlet says, they're likely to be at some points in the holiday.

As for your other questions, they sound like you need to talk to your mentor - probably during induction / inset days at the start of term, rather than during the holiday? My strategy with seating plans with classes I had never met was to initially have them in alphabetical order while I learned their names for the first week(s) or so, and then change them once I had begun to learn names and friendships / dynamics. I'd also talk to teachers who had taught the class / pupils before to see whether there were pupils who absolutely shouldn't be sitting close to one another.

Good luck - and try to get some down-time this summer.
