Futurelearn for CPD?

Hi all - I'm a trainee and in interviews I'm being asked about where I want to be in a few years so it's on my mind. I studied English but I've always loved history and wished I'd studied it. I'm so excited to be able to teach history in primary schools as a teacher.

I would love one day to be a history subject lead but it doesn't seem likely as I didn't even do a history GCSE! So I've been thinking about doing some courses with futurelearn for my subject knowledge and to show commitment. Is it a good idea? Do schools respect futurelearn courses, what's their reputation like?

I'm not sure schools have an opinion either way on the academic quality of Future Learn courses, but the ones I've looked at and/or have done have been interesting.
In my experience schools would find it a positive quality that someone is engaged in their professional development, has thought about their aspirations, and is taking steps towards their goals. You're demonstrating that you're keen, reflective, and willing to learn, which are all excellent qualities for a teacher to have, especially for someone starting their ECT stage.
