I don’t have a job yet and I’m panicking

It’s now June and I’m panicking because I don’t have a job. I’ve applied elsewhere but the interviews commence Monday and I’ve hear nothing back. There’s one last permanent job left and I’m just so worried I feel like a failure.

The last resignation date was the end of May, there'll still be new ones appearing. I didn't get my first job until July - there's still time!

You’re training for English, right? Don’t panic. There will always be English jobs. Keep applying and if it doesn’t work out, get signed up with a supply agency. Two benefits to supply: 1) you’ll get to know a wider range of schools, 2) you’ll probably get picked up by one of them for a longer term cover.

Thank you. That makes me a little more hopeful. It’s just scary I really want a job and I know I have it in me

My advice is sign up to a couple of supply agencies. I did this and felt much more secure about September, which I think then helped me to get a permanent (ish-12 month fixed term)/job as I was more relaxed and confident at the interview. Good luck!

I’ve applied to two temp jobs too! Going to see how that goes for now

You need to get signed up with supply sooner rather than later as they require interviews, references and a DBS unless you have one on the update service already. It takes time to process it all.

Don't panic! There will be something last minute somewhere -- even a mat leave might come up. Are you in a competitive part of the country? Maybe increase how far you are prepared to commute? And agree to make sure you get signed up to supply.

Having seen your other threads, I think you need to take a step back and stop worrying, whilst also being a bit more open about what sort of position you're willing to consider.
I'm glad you're considering fixed term contracts now as that's a really common situation for jobs advertised in the summer term, especially if they are maternity cover. I'd also seriously consider the advice you were given from the recruitment agency on your other thread about taking on fixed term work in a good school via an agency.
