Commuting

Hi all, I need some advice from fellow teachers!
What do you think is an acceptable commuting time? I'm looking for a job (doing a mat cover currently) and I've seen one which is 38 miles/45-50 mins away. It's mainly motorway driving. School I'm currently at is 16 miles away but also takes around 45 minutes in rush hour.
It's a full time HOD job whereas job now is 0.7 teacher job. Have two children under 10 and husband works overseas.
Thoughts please!

I do 20 mins, have never done more than 40 as a teacher. Too much other work on top of that commute time.

my commute is 15 mins on a good day and 45 min on a bad day

I moved as before it was 45 mins a each way shortest and it was killing me!

When you equate an hour and a half a day - for 5 days- its like working 6.

Thank you!

My commute is 1 hour to 1h15m depending on traffic. I'm a single parent and I make it work (in fact, it's quite nice to get some me time). It's not ideal, but the job is worth it and I can't afford to live in that area so I'm as close as I can afford to be for now.

I suppose that the problem is that if the motorway is shut, you are a bi

A bit buggered! Posted too early.
Is there an alternative route or is it one of those routes which depends on the motorway?
I can’t really answer this as there are several variables. I would hate it because I don’t love driving (especially not in bad weather) and I have a pretty crappy car with few comforts. Someone who loves driving and who has a decent four wheel drive for bad weather might love this and enjoy the radio/audiobooks in peace.
It also depends on childcare. Mine have always demanded pick up before 5pm and don’t want to stay at childcare for dinner. Different children might love staying at childcare for dinner, making their mum free to commute and only worry about their own dinner!
My mum’s advice is always: imagine doing that commute on a cold and dark February morning. If you can handle it in the winter then the summer term would be a breeze.

I do 45-50 mins each way, some on motorway, rest on rural roads. It is a little bit of a pain but i like my school ( i drive past my old school half way and every time think yes, I don’t have to go in there 😊)
