Handing in notice on bank holiday??

Hi all
I’m in a tricky situation in that I’m in a teaching job that is going to change drastically in September.

I’m still unsure what the new role will entail and need to consider whether I can handle staying on given the amount of unknowns.

Am I able to hand in my notice on a bank holiday via email? Is this allowed? I really need a few more days to decide!

TIA

I think as long as on/ before 31st it'd okay?

AntOrBee · 27/05/2021 12:50

Even if there’s no one to receive it?

Yes I think so!

Thanks.

I’m still agonising over whether to just do it today...

My husband is in this position and I spoke to a relative who works in schools HR. They said to do it at 4pm today so that the (shitty) HT couldn't argue that he's missed the deadline because Monday is a non-working day (being a bank holiday).

That makes sense in a way but the May 31st deadline is always in half term so it’s a always non working day anyway!

Legally, they have to accept it.

It might make your last half term awful if the leadership are at all spiteful though.
