We used kerboodle for a bit, about a year and it just seemed incredibly overly complicated and not very well written. This was a while ago (4 or 5 years) though so may have changed since then. I'm currently a big fan of Seneca, which is also free, always nice.

We use kerboodle in science and pe. The digital access to textbooks for all students (and teachers) was invaluable during lockdown. The end of chapter exam style questions are useful. The UI is clunky but recently significantly improved. Students seem more keen on Seneca but the most able feel it isn’t in adequate depth.

Hadn’t heard of Seneca - seems almost too good to be true tho!

We have kerboodle but to be honest, we don't use it much. I find it better for A-level as students access the book and retrieval questions. I find the books and many resources are not accessible for my foundation GCSE groups and they struggle to navigate it.

We use Seneca which the kids seem to like and educake which is also good and they seem to engage with.

Science and geography use Educake. Maths uses Hegarty.

Kerboodle for MFL GCSE and A Level. Love it! So much material and really well linked to the exam requirements.

Loshad · 26/05/2021 21:41

We use kerboodle and educake and the free version of seneca
I found several errors in seneca the few times i used it so don’t tend to bother with it any more.
Educake is basically a self marking quizzing website and great for hw and self use by students
Kerboodle is much improved over the past few years, it is still a little clunky to get the worksheets etc, but it’s great that every kid has access to a copy of the text book whereas we used to have to share 32 copies across the gcse years

I use activelearn, which does the job but I find they rest on their laurels and are now vastly outdated with their tech offering and having to catch up.

We had Collins connect (science) but didn’t like their assessments and weren’t using the textbooks. We’ve gone back to physical paper revision guides (even though we are an iPad school) and use Seneca for easy mark homeworks now and then as you can set quizzes and it marks them and gives you feed back. You can also see how much time they have spent on it doing their own revision . Seneca is good for fact learning and the kids are quite willing to engage with it , but it’s no good for proper exam questions practise. It’s a nice add on basically and it’s free. A few years ago I was shown how to make links on exampro you can hand out to classes that open up into nicely laid out past paper questions and answers. I’m sure nearly everyone knows how to do this but it was a game changer for me!
