LF tests in the holidays - why?

Does anyone know why teachers have to test in the holidays? Can’t see the point. Surely we should just have to test the night before term starts?

I guess it's because the inaccuracy of the tests means you're more likely to detects case when used every few days, so a big gap in the hols would mean many cases missed.

As the above poster said - the tests aren't particularly reliable or accurate. They're also completely optional so nobody can split hairs with you should you decide to give your nose and throat a break for 2 weeks.

because the government ordered loads before realising they were useless and needs to get rid of them somehow

StaffRepFeistyClub · 29/03/2021 12:07

yep - all of those LFTs need to be used up somehow

It's because you can develop symptoms well after last being with the kids! Theres a reason we have the isolation period. I could have been near an asymptomatic pupil last Friday and so by still testing twice weekly I can make sure I am not also asymptomatic

I also think they need to be rid of the stockpile. That warehouse space must be costing!

God knows, NHS staff have been explicitly told not to test when they are off. Makes no sense ( no surprise there then)
