I’ve left my role as a primary TA after only 2 and a half months. The academy has a high staff turnover, and I now completely understand why. Without going into too much detail on here, if I’m honest about my experience, will my reference from the head be awful?

I am moving over to the health and social care sector now anyway, and I am planning never to work in another school again.

Don’t be honest, especially not if you need a reference. It isn’t worth the potential of a negative reference which can be given. Just say something bland about wanting a new challenge etc.

If a place is that bad to work in then you saying that will only convince them that they were right to lose you, that they are doing things to the correct way and you’re an outlier.

This could risk your reference OP. Do not do this. I know it’s tempting but remember you’re getting out of there. That’s the key thing to focus on. Good luck.

@picklespark

I do need the reference. Thanks for your advice. I’ll keep it positive and leave graciously then in that case.
