Which school?

I’ve been out of teaching for almost 3 years (after maternity leave and looking after my young children). Been looking for part time September jobs and need help deciding between:

  1. my old school has offered me a job for September, part time mondays and tuesdays. 1 day in class, 1 day interventions. Less marking I’d imagine and nice to work across different year groups. School is high pressured although I’ve only ever worked there so don’t know much different. Very big school. Used to lead maths / science there.

  2. new school much smaller. 2.5days job share probably in Y6 which obviously comes with a heavier workload and poss leading a subject. I know someone who works there who says they value their staff members. All new and feel I’d have to prove myself again if that makes sense.

Thoughts?

I think it depends what your medium term plans are. If you want to keep you hand in in terms of your career and will be wanting promotion once your DC are a bit bigger, I'd go job B.

If you want something low-stress so you can focus on DC, job A

Totally depends on a few factors. If you have lots of support in your partner and wider family, and also a fair capacity for pressure and responsibility, Job B sounds like a meatier role. If you are the only one on the home front and prone to buckling under pressure, Job A sounds way lighter to keep you ticking over until the DC are older.
