Hi all,
Before lockdown, my Head decided we would benefit from recruiting a school counsellor, which we did. Lockdown then struck which meant the counsellor has yet to begin their role formally as, obviously, no children in to work with. (almost zero key workers and the vulnerables won't attend but that's a different thread!) However, the counsellor offered to provide counselling sessions for members of staff. So far, four or five have taken them up on this and seem really happy with this opportunity.
The problem is, counsellors need supervision; minimum 1.5 hours a month I believe @£65 an hour or so. We are happy to pay this but the Head has now decided that they don't want to pay this during lockdown as the counsellor is 'barely working.' I don't agree and am feeling put out as it'll have to be me that inevitably delivers the good news.
Could any counsellors or schools who employ a counsellor share their thoughts?
