Headteacher bullying

Can't sleep. Have been subjected to bullying by headteacher for well over a year. Governors are now involved and have been shocked by the content of the emails she has sent me. They have said they cannot ignore it. So as not to drip feed, the Governors got involved when I raised a separate issue and this came about as part of their investigation.

What happens when Governors know headteachers have been unprofessional and have mistreated their staff? They've said I'll be protected by the whistle blowing policy - what does that mean? Found out the Governors are talking to the Head this week and I'm dreading facing her at school. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks.

I don't really have any answers, but didn't want to read and run. What a dreadful situation for you. I assume that you have involved your union? Have you got a copy of the whistleblowing policy? If stress is making you feel unwell, you can obviously have some time off sick.

You definitely need to be supported through this. Contact your union ASAP. Good luck.

If they have bullied you they have bullied others, you are doing the right thing by bringing it to the governors attention.

They will probably give you a wide birth now or be really nice to you.

Get a doctor's note: work- related stress is serious. Get a copy of your school's whistleblowing policy. Get on the phone to your union. It's the only way if you are being bullied. Save copies of any evidence you can- emails, WhatsApp, anything you have. Good luck.

Thank you for being so lovely. I'm going to keep plodding on because if I take time off it'll be hard to go back. She's a Jekyll and Hyde character - nice as pie to me today. The meeting is tomorrow so I'm expecting the fallout next week. The governors have been brilliant and extremely sympathetic - it's almost as though they knew what was going on and they were just waiting for someone to speak up.

I would love to know what the process is when there has been bullying by the Head. There have been others on the receiving end, I'm not alone 🥲 There is light at the end of the tunnel, she's coming up to retirement.

I keep reminding myself I haven't done anything wrong. Keeping a very low profile, taking it one day at a time.

Don’t go to any meetings with your head without a union rep present is my advice.
Sending sympathy- I’ve been at the receiving end of a bullying head in the past and it’s miserable. X

I’ve been there too if you need to talk.

I have too. Sorry you're going through this.
