Supply agencies not furloughing?

I’ve been working with Tradewind since the start of October 2020, signed up in September. No news of furloughing. They aren’t the best agency and I signed up to another agency before Christmas because I wasn’t happy with them. Obviously haven’t had any work from the second agency yet.

Is anyone on day to day supply on furlough? Will I have to rely on universal credit?

My supply agency did furlough last year but have announced that there will be no furlough pay this lockdown due to rule changes that mean it will cost too much paying supply teacher's national insurance.

Some of the agencies we use have furloughed staff - Protocol for one.

Spiderysummer - I had the same from my agency. Luckily I've just started a 0.4 post or we'd be homeless.

I've discovered some agencies are furloughing staff, doesn't make me feel very loyal to them. Mrs Zola, glad you managed to get some work.

My agency have furloughed me again. You can only be furloughed if you were on the payroll from 1st September to the 31st October.

I have worked most weeks in the Autumn term. The agency said they could not afford to furlough us.

The government are paying so I don’t see why they can’t afford it? More like they don’t want to furlough you on the off chance schools become really desperate and need someone to mind the key worker kids. Unlikely though.

You will hate me. I’ve been furloughed by the agency that I’ve worked more for in the past and am working three days a week for another agency.

My supply agency furloughed during the first lockdown and gave us the option this lockdown. They are reassessing the furlough every 2 weeks, depending on if the work availability has increased. My agency has said that if they do get some work in we can be taken off furlough and then put on furlough the next week.

Cannot fault Vision for their response to the pandemic. They furloughed March to August 31st and again this year from January.

The info for all agencies ought to be transparent so that zero-hours contract workers can make informed decisions as to who they sign up with.

Protocol are doing furlough as I have been emailed about it saying I'm eligible so many times. I'm actually not as I have a permanent job, but if I was only doing the work I was doing with them , I think I would be eligible for it.

You may not even be eligible for furlough as in order to be eligible you had to be employed by 30 October 2020 and reported to hmrc on a rti payroll submission between 20 march and 30 October 2020, so will depend on when your first pay date was. Assuming you were eligible then your furlough pay would be calculated based on 80% of your October salary.

For march to July furlough the government reimbursed employers ni and part of the employers pension but the company now has to pay these costs.

Anyone employed at march 2020 their furlough pay is based on feb 2020 if fixed or average of 19/20 tax year if variable pay
