AIBU to speak with SENCO about possible genetic disorder?

I am a reception TA (this is my first year as a TA though I have worked in schools and with disabled children for a few years as a carer).

A child in our class has several features of a rare disorder that I have experience with. I noticed when I met him and now have noticed a couple of other features. He is not particularly difficult and the (possible) disease isn't causing him too much trouble, but I am wondering whether I should mention it to SENCo. There are things he could get help with that the class teacher and parents think are just run of the mill.

Should I say anything or leave well enough alone? If it matters, I don't think his parents would be very receptive.

Yes definitely talk to the SENCO. You are knowledgeable about this so would be silly to not pass in your concerns. As part of the school team I’d hope your observations and knowledge would be valued

Absolutely. You bring experience and skills with you from your previous role, and can use them to get further support for a child. As long as you start with the opener "Obviously I'm not a Paediatrician, but...." and explain that you have worked with a child who presents the same as this child, before, and in their case, you found that X and Y helped, so thought it might be helpful to mention as it is a condition that isn't that prevalent and realise everyone might not have come across it before.
It is up to the SENCo then to decide what to do with that information.
