Computer Science dying in schools?

Anyone else's schools stopping teaching IT and GCSE comp sci in general? Really struggling with justifying keeping the course going.

What kind of reputation does it have in your schools? Seems like teaching it is becoming less and less common :(

It has a good rep here and an amazing teacher. However I know this is rare. It's hard to get suitably qualified staff who remain up to date with the content.

Students are so ICT illiterate compared to their phone/social media use skills. We need more ICT not less.

It is because ICT GCSE and a levels were scrapped and many low ability students just cannot do computing . It is beyond them.

First thing when they get to university "forget what you learned in school".

First thing when you start work "We'll spend the first month or two teaching you to be useful".

We have two a level computing classes and two gcse, plus creative imedia. But we're really lucky to have great specialist teachers

This is so bloomin true. I know someone in a school where all the kids have their own Chrome books. So jealous, wish we could have the same.
