How does this work?

Just learned 2 adults are joining my daughters class and can not get a satisfactory answer as to why they can’t be split across 2 classrooms?

Every body added is an increased COVID risk and especially for the adults involved -

3 adults in the classroom and all of them trying to distance from each other the kids? How is that remotely possible?
And WHY is it necessary?

Thanks

Might be due to their mentor?

One may be an assistant to the trainee?

Tbh not really much of your business.

Is this a thing? assistant to a trainee teacher? What would this person do?
Like a 1:1? If someone needs that can that be a teacher?

Why do they have to have the same mentor?

It is my business because Now my daughter is exposed to 2 more people every day

I did my teacher training in the US so I really do not understand how any of this is organised and I would genuinely like to understand.

Is the mentor the experienced teacher in the room? ( I assume that’s it, Or someone at their university?)

It could be a reasonable adjustment for disability so yes effectively a 1:1.

The mentor is always an experienced teacher. Some schools only have one suitable person so they mentor 2 trainees.

To be completely frank, two more people matters diddly squat. I'm in secondary, exposed to hundreds per day. No space to SD and teachers need training.

How do you propose teacher training goes ahead this year?

When I did a PGCE, for the first placement trainees were in pairs and put in the same classroom. It was so we could learn from each other and I suppose it reduced the number of experienced mentors needed in the placement school. This placement was only for 6 or 8 weeks though.

To be honest, there are 3 adults in my classroom all day every day due to TA support. There is no distancing from children within the class (primary) and the adults are passing pens, paper, touching the same books all day in the room. We do hand sanitise though wherever possible. We’ve even been told to close windows and the door if children get cold (I don’t recommend this.) It is rubbish but we’ve all accepted that if one of us gets it we will all be at risk due to the nature of the job. I think that breathing in respiratory droplets is probably the most likely route of transmission. Any indoor environment with 30 people is going to be ideal conditions for this to happen.

First placement is often paired but is usually at the discretion of the school. My first placement we were split from our pair.
