You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

I have never told anyone in real life I'm on here, but bloody dh has dobbed me in a couple of times. He claims he didn't know it's like the Masons and you're not supposed to admit it.

But I recognised a parent at school on here once. My Head came to tell me about an awful situation going on with this mother and an abusive ex, and I thought, "hang on, I'm sure I read that on MN the other day." Sure enough, it was her!

CallmeAngelina · 18/10/2020 22:39

And he (dh) embarrassed me hugely once in front of Justine (whose sister is one of our close friends). Made out like I was some stalking fan-girl of hers! I could have swung for him.

CallmeAngelina · 18/10/2020 22:40

Hmm. Might be over-sharing here...

noblegiraffe · 18/10/2020 22:41

OMG Loshad nightmare. How did they recognise you?

MsAwesomeDragon · 18/10/2020 22:42

I've just advised my sister to look for support on here for an issue with her dd. So she knows I'm on here, but I don't think our paths would cross in terms of the sort of thread we'd post on.

And I know one other person irl who posts on here, and she knows me. She's been on the staffroom threads as well. I am happy enough that we know each others MN names, I like the connection.

I wouldn't like a random teacher from my school to clock me before I clock them. It needs to be a mutual thing, where both of us know and are happy to know each other.

noblegiraffe · 18/10/2020 22:43

Should have put a complaint into Justine via her sister for them banning you that time Grin

CallmeAngelina · 18/10/2020 22:44

Don't think I'd mind if school colleagues clocked me - but wouldn't be happy if any parents did - or friends, but I bet they probably have.
No one's ever hinted though.

Don't think I didn't consider it!! Grin
MsAwesomeDragon · 18/10/2020 22:45

Oh, I did have a colleague notice me years ago, when I first joined. I'd just had a miscarriage and she gave me a condolence card at school. It was a nice gesture but actually it just upset me as I hadn't wanted anyone outside my department to know (far chance of that as my then hod just printed out my email with cover and stick it on my desk for the cover teachers, complete with the paragraph at the top telling him why I was of!)

WhyNotMe40 · 18/10/2020 22:51

What an insensitive bastard! Shock

Augustbreeze · 18/10/2020 22:53

The photos thing would be fascinating.... what's the betting we all look nothing like we picture each other?

Isn't the danger more that we find out one of us teaches another's child?!

The party would be lovely but very...um.... outing! Grin

WhyNotMe40 · 18/10/2020 22:53

I've been on here since tes chatboards changed - so 12 years ish? But I've changed usernames loads as I had a load of personal life crap going on that I was talking about on here, but didn't want anyone in real life to know about.
On tes I used to be in the virtual bar thread with Packerguy and Grandelf and Flitterbyplant. Met them all in real life as well Grin

The TES boards used to be brilliant. So helpful and some really good threads-I remember one that went on for ages about inventing a new success criteria with the acronym W.ANK (we all now know...!)

Was the Mrz from there the same one who was over here?

CallmeAngelina · 18/10/2020 23:00

Haven't seen Mrz for AGES. Has she name-changed?
Feenie pops up from time to time, but not often.

Keepdistance · 18/10/2020 23:09

I liked mrz she seems to have left the phonics threads.

WhyNotMe40 · 18/10/2020 23:09

I used to love Goneril. Brilliantly funny

noblegiraffe · 18/10/2020 23:15

I get the feeling you all hung out on Personal while I was on Opinion 😂

noblegiraffe · 18/10/2020 23:16

Piggy is apparently short in real life, despite her aura of tallness on here. That shocked me.

MrsHerculePoirot · 18/10/2020 23:17

@noblegiraffe your party does sound epic!

I’ve worked all day today today but got everything done (plus some extras) and only have one lesson I need to plan now. Three days left for me. Roll on half term.

WhyNotMe40 · 18/10/2020 23:18

Opinion was too much like the AIBU of Tes for me Grin
DrMadelineMaxwell · 18/10/2020 23:36

I've been on mnet for far too long... at least 15 years but maybe a few more than that. My colleague and I used to regularly spot each other's name changes. It made me think twice before sharing some things, which wasn't a bad thing I suppose.

Loshad · 19/10/2020 06:08

@noblegiraffe a combination of school specific stuff and talking out my dcs.
I think she must have been stalking me a little bit.
Used to go on TES occasionally but not very often

Loshad · 19/10/2020 06:08

Talking about

SaltyAndFresh · 19/10/2020 06:29

I change a lot but I've been on here nearly 11 years and used the same username to begin with as I did on TES. I loved the TES boards!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 19/10/2020 07:19

I loved the original TES boards..
