Covid risk assessment, on website?

Does a school's covid risk assessment legally have to be on their website and accessible to parents?

I'm looking for definitive advice please, and if anyone has links to a gov website that would be useful (I believe my dc has been exposed to a known case and can't find his school's RA online, his group not advised to self-isolate despite

No it doesn't have to legally be on the website. My own school's risk assessment runs to about 16 pages and I don't know how useful it would be for parents. I'm sorry that you are worried though. Have you asked the school to go through their control measures with you? Also, due to confidentiality I assume you won't have been informed of who tested positive and when? The time scales are important. I think the contact would need to have been in the 48 hours before symptoms began so your child's contact may have been outside of that window.

Thanks. Contact was definitely within 48 hours, some kids have been told to SI, they seem to have missed one mixed class (y10, mixed options class).

How would I request a copy of the RA please?

You can email the school office and they will be able to send it to you. You may not find the answers that you are looking for though. If you are worried then you may have to decide for yourself if you want him to SI.

The risk assessment won't say who will and won't be required to isolate in the event of a case, that decision is made in consultation with the DfE/PHE once there is a case.

You need to email the school and ask why this class hasn't been requested to isolate given the close contact.

Augustbreeze · 26/09/2020 13:38

I'd contact the school as a matter of urgency (ie using whatever email address / number you've been told to use to report a positive test result).

Just say what you've told us here, that it seems to you that one class has been missed off the "have to self isolate" list. Be polite and allow for them knowing something you don't. They should be prepared to explain.

But yes, always remember that it's not actually the school's decision, it's PHE's, going on info provided by the school.

You could isolate your child over the weekend and ask the question on Monday, although this would potentially leave others from the class our spreading it, so I suppose it is an urgent matter.

*out spreading it

Thanks all. DS has started with a cough (not a mucking-about one, genuine can't help it type, and looks like shit after a restless night) so have booked a test. Have emailed the school for a copy of their RA: notwithstanding PHE advice it should show what steps are in place to minimise contact between groups within each bubble, and what precautions are in place should the school have a positive case?

My school isn't making any efforts to minimise contact between groups within each bubble. That's why it's a bubble.

Ignore the username, I have had to in the past and it did not work out well for me. I am curious though - how many of you are working in schools where bubbles are not being sent home despite a pupil testing positive? Would some of you even know?

I don’t know whether we would be told. We have asked the question but did not get a straight answer.
Hercwasonaroll · 27/09/2020 06:58

We are being told the year group. We're told the student name if we teach them. PHE have advised teaching staff don't need to isolate unless they test positive. (that's what our HT was told).

Like above, we aren't limiting contacts within a bubble. That is why they are a bubble. Obviously we're encouraging social distancing at break times and they should be wearing a mask when indoors and not in a classroom.

The precautions are up to PHE. We do a deep clean of any areas the student has been in. However the time line for us was student was never symptomatic in school. 5 days from symptoms to test result so deep clean was pretty pointless.

hedgehogger1 · 27/09/2020 10:45

We've had positive cases PHE said only kids that sit within 2m radius have to be sent home... after kids have sat in same room with limited ventilation for the entire day. It's not safe
