Not enjoying my new job

Just that really. I’m not enjoying it. I miss my old school. I hate having to prove myself all over. I hate there not being clear communication. I hate that things still not been ordered, they’ve had so many months and not sure why they left it till now to order!

I hate the way one SLT talks to me. Any advice or just sympathies?

Get out of there!
Sorry it sounds awful, go with your instincts.

Hmm I’m not enjoying my new role either different situation to you but

I think I will a) do my role the best I can with a smile b) get out after a year with a decent reference c) fill my life with other stuff and decrease the amount I care.

It’s not who I have ever been as a teacher but ultimately sanity is everything. It’s a shame as teaching fills up so much of life but if the school doesn’t feel a positive environment or a good fit then as long you are doing everything you can for the pupils then 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh man, that's a really tough situation. Are you a mainscale teacher, if so can you have a word with head of dept/faculty and ask for some advice on communication and maybe figure out why the SLT member is being that way? How are the kids?

Give it time. It takes a while to settle in and learn the new systems, and make friends.

I would say give it some time. It's very early days and with the added unusual circumstances it's hard on everyone.

Try to get to know a couple of people- having some allies helps.

It's hard when systems aren't there or aren't what you expect but unless you are in a position to change them, accept that they are what they are and do your best to manage.

I'd say give it a good go for a term or two and then see how you feel. I started at my current school 5 years ago at Easter. I felt just like you in the first month and really thought I'd made a terrible mistake. I stuck it out, more out of necessity than anything else and after the first half term I started to feel more settled. Then, in the September, everything seemed to just click into place. Five years on, I've been promoted twice and love the school. There have been tough times along the way due to staffing issues in my department but being part of the team that moved it forwards has been great.

Hopefully, things will get better for you but if, after a term or two you are still unhappy, I'd look elsewhere.
