Handing my notice in advice

Have been a TA at my local secondary for almost a year but I don't want to return.

I was hired on a short term contract (until November) but I can't face going back.

I worked for 20 years in a career I loved but got bullied out because I am a carer. I feel sick at the though of going back to work.

Do I have to work my notice period? I would consider working as a TA again in the future as I enjoyed the kids, it's just the slightly miserable and weirdly competitive environment between the TAs I can't stand. I also have never received any positive feedback or thanks which just pushes my confidence down further.

I started a small business during lockdown and want to focus on that. Also, two of my kids receive DLA (one neurological the other medical) so I have appointments every week which are bloody hard to fit in so working for myself would be ideal.

Sorry for the long post...

You’d be expected to give a month’s notice, but I don’t know what they would be able to do if you cut that short.

Thanks will check that out. I feel sick at the thought of going back but also so guilty.

I think I will have to work my notice. I have been sticking my head in the sand all summer so it is my own fault.

Hand it in and get a sick note if you are so worked up about it.
