I’ve got to do this today. Worse than the prospective interview I’m hoping for. Any advice on how to word it? Planning on keeping it simple, but she’s keen on dramatics.

Stay factual and walk out if she gets ridiculous.

That made me laugh. Do you know her then? She so will be ridiculous! I will model my flouncing out on my 11 year old DD (in my head. In reality I will be entirely professional!)

😂 No but have dealt with similar. Just said that I needed a new challenge so would be applying.

Her immediate response will be tears and then ‘but who will do xyz?’ (AKA ‘all the things you’ve been doing but not paid or otherwise recognised for’).
Maybe I should be looking forward to this conversation more!

You could answer "it would provide the perfect opportunity for one of my colleagues to step up in preparation for the next stage of their career". True, polite and a subtle reminder that you should be paid more.

Great thinking, malbecfan. Very subtle. She won’t get it but I’ll feel better!
Couldn’t do it today as she wasn’t in school. Will have to be tomorrow.
