Runny nose?!

Evening all,
I am having parents message me ahead of returning next week asking if their child needs to stay off as they have sniffles and a runny nose. I've realised I dont know the answer! Obviously I will confirm with management Tuesday but I assume that if the child is well and has no other symptoms then they wouldnt need to be excluded from school. Just wondered what other settings policies are? This is going to be a nightmare over winter - I am EYFS.

I would say that unless they have one of the three Covid symptoms, a cough, temp or loss of taste/smell, and they are well in themselves, they should attend school

Yes that's my thoughts too, the LA guidance is a bit woolly as it says 'feels unwell' as one of the reasons to stay home Hmm.

Except that children have been found to have other symptoms including headache and tummy ache I think it was (a medical paper published this week will try and find it).

I know its tricky! I've been in school 10 years and little ones are always full of snotty noses in winter so it's going to be hard to distinguish Confused

I thought this link was helpful. There's been letters sent to the parents of Scottish children due to the amount of tests done in first 2 weeks of school restarting. Something like
17,500 test done with only 40ish being positive.
