What are your favourite, top purchases over the years that have made your teaching life better?
The gloomy weather has lead me into an internet shopping/browsing frenzy and I've ended up looking at those little cases on wheels that the supply teachers at my school always use...

My top purchase was my own PowerPoint clicker and a funky flint and steel for my lanyard for lighting bunsens --(obviously a science teacher).

Im only buying things I will use - so thermos mug, planner, nice pen for me. I’m not propping up the education system by buying things for classes anymore or printing class sets of things at home.

My favourite buys are the rub out pens, the tippex mouse, small notepads that fit in a pocket (menopause has wreaked havoc on my memory!) and a fabric hanging filing system, which allows me to see all the 'tabs' at a quick glance, much faster than rummaging through a folder.

My fountain pens and lovely inks. I'm meant to mark in red but I use shocking pink as my big of subversion

Juiceey · 19/08/2020 12:49

Do the rub out pens work?

FluffyPJs · 19/08/2020 13:22

@Juiceey yes! I buy them from typo - 3 for £3, or the uniball rub out pens are also good. I am a scruffy writer so these pens are invaluable for me

TheHoneyBadger · 19/08/2020 14:23

What’s a tipped mouse?

It’s only on mn that I’ve discovered some people have to buy their own planners.

I may invest in rub out pens. My handwriting is atrocious these days. Strangely I remember being complimented on my beautiful handwriting at school but now students struggle to decipher my marking.

Can anyone recommend a decent but inexpensive paper cutter? I think I'm going to get my own for just my classroom for September.

FluffyPJs · 19/08/2020 14:36

Tippex mouse Grin a roller version of tippex/ white out, rather than the wet stuff in a bottle. You just roller the white out over the mistake and you can write on it immediately

TheHoneyBadger · 19/08/2020 15:24

sounds handy

I learned this on twitter. I was very WTF. Excel spreadsheet all the way!

TheHoneyBadger · 20/08/2020 09:09

Tbf it’s only here I discovered teachers weren’t given school laptops in this day and age.

I thought my school was fairly shite but at least in terms of planners and laptops it could be worse
