Pregnant and starting a new job as an LSA Help!

It wasn't planned but my husband and I are happy about it - we were thinking about trying for a baby next year and this is unexpected but not awful except.... I start a new job as an LSA in a primary school in September and I'm panicking - currently 7 weeks and extreme morning sickness, vomiting several times a day and very naseous/dry retching pretty much all day. I've been prescribed anti sickness medication by the GP as he said it's probably going to get worse before it gets better.... Do i tell someone I'm pregnant? Should I be telling the headteacher or who? I know it's early to tell work but also I'm so unwell that its not going to be possible to hide it! I've not worked in a school enviroment before and I was so excited about starting but now I'm just worried and panicking. What should I do?

Yes, tell them. They should do a risk assessment for you as a pregnant member of staff - they should do that as a matter of course, not just because of Covid. I would suggest emailing the head. Acknowledge that it is unfortunate timing and let her know the medical situation. Stress that you are under GP who is giving appropriate medication to try to help so that you will hopefully be feeling much better by start of term. 12 weeks is often the magic number, so fingers crossed for you. Do stress that you are still excited about the role and looking forward to starting.

Congratulations!
