Hello
My son is coming to the end of y7. I am keen to know how he is getting on but there has been no mention of whether we will get a report. Their usual assessment points were stopped in Feb.

Any of you shed any light as to whether you are issuing them.

We're not doing them.

GabrielleChanel · 06/07/2020 23:11

Thanks for replying. I do understand and am grateful to all teachers for the heroic jobs that they have done this year.

We've just done them. Though we did do some earlier in the year so only yr 7 and 8 to do at this time. Though I'm not sure how useful they will be, we use statement banks and unsurprisingly they don't lots of lockdown friendly options. We have been told to miss off some of the numerical measures we usual use such as a score for homework and progress.

My DS primary school said his report will be ready to collect next week, and though I am grateful for the teachers taking the time to write it, I do wonder whether it was really worth the time it must have taken.

A written report only because we missed parents evening. Thankfully that was in April when I could still remember them Grin

Every student has received a long report at my school following on from the end of year exams which were all done online. Clearly it varies from school to school but ours was a real marathon... shattered now

Danglingmod · 07/07/2020 10:26

Our school has done them but they're a little meaningless as they're only about students' progress up to March.

GabrielleChanel · 07/07/2020 10:44

When would one usually receive secondary reports? IT's all new to me.
Thanks again for the replies

At my school you get 2 short reports and 1 long report a year. So some sort of report each term. Lower school get long reports in first term whereas the exam classes get long reports at the end of the academi year. When you started you should have received at information pack of what you were going to get when

FrippEnos · 07/07/2020 14:06

We have done them for lockdown.

Some parents are not going to be happy.

GabrielleChanel · 07/07/2020 15:34

Fripp
Why do you think parents won't be happy?

Progress reports 3 time's a year. No long written reports. Last progress report was February. Reports written in April for Y7 as parents evening was cancelled.

GabrielleChanel

Because half to 2/3rds have done no work.

before anyone starts the kids and parents have been chased and discussions have been had.

Cathpot · 07/07/2020 20:32

We have been asked to comment on progress in general terms for all of our students and then tutors are going to have to pull together a report as a summary.

BerriesAndLeaves · 10/07/2020 21:36

We usually get exam grades sent home 3 times a year and form tutor comments/ SLT comment once a year. This term we just got a letter to say "Congratulations to X for engaging well with the home learning." They did do tests and exams during lockdown but not much point sending grades home as for all they knew the parents could have done all the tests.

Mumtumwobble · 13/07/2020 20:22

My school have done them, but it’s just data no written comment. Apparently the phones have been red hot with parents ringing up to query x,y and z today. I don’t think it was worth the hassle to be honest.

GrammarTeacher · 13/07/2020 20:35

We have. They'll go out on Wednesday. Every school does it differently.

echt · 13/07/2020 21:33

My Victorian school reports on common assessment tasks and gives A -E ( government mandated). Bar the A-E, which is an on-balance judgment, the parents have seen it all before the report goes out. No general comment.
