What activity has been well received in your bubble?

So before I went back I was completely up for the challenge, missed my kids and wanted to get stuck in. I wasn't phased by social distancing and had a list of activities that I thought would be great.

4 weeks in and I'm floundering.

My class are a SEND bubble, their behaviour is fine but they're just so quiet and disinterested. All they want to do is screen time or play outside. Anything else is met with apathetic shrugs and yawns.

I know that this is their way of adjusting and that we've all been affected by lockdown. We're doing a lot of recovery curriculum activities and I realise it will take time and patience.

However, I'm desperate to get a bit of a spark back, to make them smile and engage if only for a few minutes. Can anybody share any activities that have done this (whilst still social distancing and not sharing resources/not allowed any soft material resources)?

Thank you.

Oh sorry that would be helpful.
Primary 7-11 but often functioning quite a bit older so we normally do KS1 activities.

Made an Anglo Saxon village
Drawing with kidshub on youtube - did whole Harry Potter cast, cut them out, made a background = collage thing
Lino printing
Got all the gymnastics equipment out in the hall
I'm going to do electricity with them next week - get all the wires and batteries out etc, make circuits - can have their own set

Made a comic strip.
Sketched and then painted a self portrait.
Made a collage to record the positives to lock down such as more time with family, new skills learnt etc.

My bubble loved all these. Admittedly, I teach year 6 but they are quite low ability and I think you could adapt for KS1 ability.

Ours enjoyed making paper aeroplanes and seeing whose went furthest.

Painting. We so rarely have time to paint, they loved it.

Sunshine Circles! Google them. You gather together, rules are stick together, no hurts, have fun. Check in - children show you a 'hurt' or a graze or a bruise (children love showing hurts!) and you acknowledge it (we used to use s cotton ball to rub it better but at the moment we are telling the children to rub it better with their finger tips). Then we play some up-regulating games, like Simon says, pass the imaginary ball, the Hokey Cokey, etc, then some down-regulating games, like pass the smile, drawing patterns on backs etc. My year R children love this and we do it in our bubble every day. The structure is comforting as it's the same each time, he games are fun and we use different ones across the week, and they get to suggest their favourite ones. It's suitable for SEN, and any age really.
