PGCe interview: what kind of learning resource should I bring?

Hello,

I have an interview for a PGCE course next Thursday. It's at a university and it's for a science PGCe.

They've asked me to prepare a teaching idea or learning resource.

The interview is through zoom.

Any ideas of what I could do? I was thinking of 20 questions? Or maybe a short experiment with a globe or something?

A globe could work, but what is it being used for? I don’t know the science curriculum at all, but possibly light? Shadow? Global warming?

Even better, start with what you want to teach (global warming, chemical reactions, whatever) and then look for the how (the resource)

What's the lesson topic? I would just go for something YOU are keen to talk about, and then your enthusiasm will come through.

Sadly, it doesn't specify a topic, age group, or skill. It just says to prepare a teaching material or idea? Confused

Really open then. What's your favourite bit of science? How would you explain that?

You could let a bit of bread go awesomely mouldy and tell them how you would use it for microbes (not forgetting H&S!).

It really doesn't matter WHAT you talk about, they will be looking at HOW you talk about it.

How did it go?

How did it go?

Sorry for the radio silence!

The interview went great! She offered me a place on the course within 10 minutes!

I made two cubes of ice trays: one with cold water and one with hot water. I showed her the cubes and explained why the hot water ones turned out clear, and the cold water ones cloudy.

Brilliant!! Well done! Good luck with it all

Well done. Hopefully you will be able to do placements as normal this year.
