What do people think of this:

Primary schools should only welcome back additional children where:

they have already made provision available for children of critical workers, vulnerable children, and children in nursery, reception, year 1 and year 6 and have ensured as many as possible are able to attend (especially for those who would particularly benefit from being in school because of other disadvantage)
they can accommodate more children while still following the approaches set out in the protective measures guidance and their own risk assessment
they do not require additional funding, staff or classrooms to do so. If schools have access to space on other school sites (for example, local secondary schools, if that is feasible alongside the secondary offer) they may use this, taking care to ensure children stay in allocated groups. However, other community buildings (such as village halls) should not be used to expand capacity this term, while they remain closed in line with the government’s roadmap

I know of one local private school where all year groups will be back by next Monday R to yr8.

StrawberryJam200 · 15/06/2020 19:37

Hmm, it's not really changing anything that's already being said, is it?

So I wonder why they've issued it.....

StrawberryJam200 · 15/06/2020 19:45

Apparently it also says that secondaries can have one meeting with students from Y7-9 if they can/want to... (just seen on another thread)

Sofabitch · 15/06/2020 20:27

My school is ignoring the 'guidance' saying its only guidance. So it's pointless anyway

We have half year 10 in in the morning, and the other half in the afternoon everyday.

Oh and we have to massively up our live lesson schedule

orangeicecream · 15/06/2020 20:54

Now heard of at least 3 independent schools going back Monday... All year groups.

LolaSmiles · 15/06/2020 21:57

I've not finished going through it yet but if I remember correctly the bit about funding is new. They're also starting to backtrack on getting everyone back, but in a way that can pass the buck to schools.

I wonder what else has been changed as it just says the whole guidance was updated today.

At least it admits they’re refusing funding to make it happen. Basically do whatever so long as it doesn’t cost anything.

Presumably private sector have paid for the modifications needed to keep their staff and customers safe and to be able to reopen. Private businesses have also been given non repayable grants, furlough pay etc.

Schools are entitled to nothing extra.

I now teach at an independent. We will not have all year groups back this academic year - just 10 and 12 from next week on a rota basis.

School behaviour policy for following CV related guidelines being ramped up. One strike and student will be sent home.

State school here but doing the same staff.

It going to be a week long ground hog day - teaching the same year 10 lessons- Monday - Thursday. We get Friday off to write reports.

Get more of a plan tomorrow

orangeicecream · 16/06/2020 21:35

I'm back at school with year 5 as of next week (heard today). Bubbles of 12-15 kids.

Piggywaspushed · 17/06/2020 07:51

None of the private schools by me are having any secondary kids back. DH's school has year 6 back and that's it.

I think all the stuff about using village halls etc would enrage a lot of MNers who think that is s spiffing idea and why are teachers so unimaginative they can't think of it themselves! Seems like the DfE isn't too keen on their ideas either.

Isn't it interesting, though, that empty village halls are not allowed to be open according to the 'roadmap' (which they have stopped showing us)? And yet, Nightingale hospitals were constructed from giant , closed leisure facilities??
