When asked about reopening primaries on 1st June...
Paraphrasing slightly but he said:

"we know we can do it in a safe socially distant way [...] providing everybody remembers the guidelines set out and everybody understands the crucial things to do social distancing and handwashing."

And from the published guidance for implementing reopening of schools,

"We know that, unlike older children and adults, early years and primary age children cannot be expected to remain 2 metres apart from each other and staff."

So hang on, which is it?

Do you mean when he appeared before the liaison committee, 4-5pm? Hancock did today's briefing.

Yes sorry I meant the liaison committee!

The social distancing refers to staff in different bubbles, children moving from one area of school to another and parents dropping off/picking up. Within the bubbles, Primary age children and the staff with them don’t need to “Social distance” themselves though rules about good hygiene, etc, needs to be adhered to.

I'm sorry, but the cynic in me says that's just a load of old bollocks the government are spouting to make everyone think it's OK to open the schools up when it quite clearly, in my opinion, is not.
