Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone is using zoom with kids for a one on one chat with kids with their parents present, if it’s safe or if there are any easy to use alternatives. Thanks

I don't think it's Zoom per se, but live teaching that could present the issue.

The issue with Zoom is:

1.They admitted they don’t have end to end encryption (Whats App/Teams/Adobe Rooms do etc)

  1. As a result, contact details of thousands have been sold for about a penny on the dark web
  1. The ‘passwords’ are just numbers and it’s is easy to just type in a serious of numbers until you get lucky and are able to enter a chat and bomb it with porn or screen capture it and sell on etc.

Yesterday I think even Google banned their staff from using it on work devices as a result and Singapore have banned it educationally completely.

It’s a mad mad world!

@noblegiraffe thankfully nothing to do with school or any children, no. Something organised by a small national DV charity though, so potentially triggering for some participants.

We aren't allowed to use it because of safeguarding issues.

We use zoom and so does DS's school.

Just on Zoom passwords - Zoom generates one automatically when you schedule a meeting, but you can change it manually to something more secure eg mixture of lower and upper case letters and numbers
