Anyone considering their options re teaching during a pandemic?

I dont want to, but I'm considering leaving teaching if I can find something else; something more local. I get that schools need to reopen but don't believe for a moment that staff will be adequately protected. I feel that I have to accept that if I've managed to avoid Covid by September, I will pick it up at some point in the autumn term and I'm not sure I fancy my chances. I really feel that I'd be safer back in the NHS, where at least I'd be expected to adhere to safe practice and would get PPE when the supply chain is back on its feet.

On one hand I feel in being ridiculous but on the other, it seems like the only solution to avoid putting my family at increased risk. There are also wraparound issues as we both work and I have a hefty commute. Anyone else going around in circles on this?

The lack of respect for teachers and other school staff from government, the media and an awful lot of parents is making me reconsider my career choice.

Yes, definitely that too. I don't hear anyone demanding that teachers work throught the summer for the greater good, offering to give up their annual leave and work unpaid.
