In with keyworkers on Good Friday- ideas?

Hi
Im due on rota Friday. We are an unusual setting as we have both primary and secondary on site. Im secondary trained but we have been told we will likely have y5 and y6 as secondary numbers are low.
I am stuggling to know what to plan (which we have been asked to do). I have an activity linked to my specialism but we are in from 8-5 and that is an hour activity. Also conscious of the fact ordinarily they would be at home on break so feel bad for them expecting 'school' work.

Does anyone have any nice ideas for years 5 and 6/ KS3?

Thanks!

An outdoor Easter Egg hunt with clues to solve and an egg at the end?

Floobydoodoo · 07/04/2020 10:25

Make Easter cards - twinkl / Pinterest will have templates.

Board games.

Something outdoor - obstacle courses / silly races.

Drawing / colouring type activities - again twinkl will have plenty.

Watch a film?!

Definitely stick on a DVD!

Make a time capsule? They are living through something exceptional after all.

Or, get the secondary age to make a treasure hunt for the younger ones?

HugoSpritz. In my school we are not allowed to do any outdoor activities where the children are sharing equipment (including throwing a ball to each other). I don't know if all schools are following the same guidelines on this though.

Make hot cross buns. It’ll take about half a day but you can do it in chunks of time.

Sunny- i did consider this but we arent able to use any other rooms. Happy to bring in bowls etc but wouldnt be able to cook them!

That’s annoying. Maybe bring in a hardboiled egg each and get them to do make a model? DS school just had a history competition where they had to make any historical character out of an egg.
Or maybe leave them free to decorate however they want?

Floobydoodoo · 07/04/2020 12:46

Baking not a great idea re infection control. They will lick the bowls, their fingers, the spoon etc.

I would say egg decorating but we’re really conscious of not wasting food atm.

And @BiggerBoat1 we have the same rule re sharing equipment. It’s really hard.

What about Easter bonnets - make them out of cardboard, decorate them, have a parade & give out prizes?
