Teachers, If you are working next week during the Easter holidays, do you claim for extra hours you've worked?

We've been told we'll get any days back in the summer term.

At your school are volunteers going in or have you been told to go i ?

No, but the rota is arranged so that we all have a decent amount of time off. If we'd had to go in for more than two days over the two weeks, our Head said she'd work out time in lieu but it's come in under that so no one minds.

No, schools are underfunded as it is. We're on a very fair rota.

I work part time as a TA. But the days I'm going in are full days.

We are all on a rota - some in school, some 'at risk' working from home. But all entitled to14 days off, ideally over the next month.

The numbers in school this week are much lower so its a bit easier. And as it is the holiday the home learning isn't academic stuff - just links to website links, fun worksheets, activity challenges, etc.

Our Easter holidays is this week and next.

Are all of you open for the full holidays including Good Friday and Easter Monday?

I don't have to go in but we were told it would be time off in lieu - which in practice would mean taking a day off from working from home (which would suit mean marking mounting up!)

I don't think ours is open on the Bank Holidays, like it isn't open at weekends either.

We have arranged it so that one SLT and one teacher in every day. Everyone who is in has the first day back after Easter off in lieu. As SLT I am in once a fortnight - most staff are way less than that anyway.

We are each doing a full week on a rota. It’s one week on, three weeks off. We’re not being expected to work during our two week holiday, whenever that is.

Our local authority has told us as heads that teachers and lsas should be paid extra to work in the two week period. It's outside of teachers pay and conditions. Teachers will receive 1/195th of their annual pay for every day the work. If they are the 'teacher in charge' that day is a main or upr scale teacher when leadership is not available, they get an extra £50 per day on top too. Lsas get paid their daily rate. The government have said they will reimburse schools for extra costs the incur, which includes opening in the easter holidays.

No. But I’m only in 2 days. We are open for the bank holidays

Also, schools have been told that they should open on Bank Holidays too, even though unions recommend they shouldn't.

Nah. The rota is really fair, I've had the last 2 weeks at home (because my partner had surgery 12 days ago), so I was put on after that period of being 'clear' was over. Advised by his doctor.

I'm working next week, then I'm going to take 8 days off as instructed by my head. Before I do that I'll have planned and uploaded lessons for the first 2 weeks of what would have been Term 5.

Our head told us that if we are down to be on the rota over Easter then we should make sure we take a day this week.

We do a 1 in 5 week rota.
We have been individually told when our ‘two weeks’ Easter break is.
I think some people make have theirs split, ie they have next week off work the following week and then the following week off as their holiday. Nobody seems to mind as far as I’m aware.

The day before schools officially closed, we were asked to select any 2 out of the next 4 weeks to work (including the Easter fortnight). So, everyone gets 2 weeks "off" but we can still cover opening for KW children over Easter. There are actually very few of them though.

I don’t really mind when the Easter Break is. It’s not like I can go on holiday is it. Ditto the bank holidays. I know the unions are saying not to open, and normally I’d agree but these are exceptional circumstances. What would you do on a bank holiday anyway?

Secondary academy. Rota system in place for students of key workers . Working fine at the moment I've been in half a day each week and am happy to do so. Easter different - run like a 'summer school' so staff have to plan activities rather than just supervise work. It is paid. I said I would if short staffed but would leave first choice to those who want to be paid. I'm not needed. Volunteer basis seems to be working so far but we are a big school with a big staff.

Nope, I'm not claiming extra pay or TIL, but I'm happy to volunteer. I'm only doing one day though, but it's a good excuse to get out of the house tbh!

No and tbh I don't see why we would either, at least at my school. We get two weeks in(set) , two weeks work from home,two weeks holiday. Up to us how we split the holiday and working from home.
