Part time at the moment with two boys. Not happy at my school and seen a full time position advertised. School is better and thinking of applying. How do I explain the fact Im going from pt to ft? How do I convince them in the letter that my expensive wage is worth it!

They’re paying for your experience; for your capacity to be a steady, safe pair of hands who can use their knowledge of other schools to tweak practice for the better.
Go for it. I would emphasise the breadth of your experience. You could be moving to ft for any number of reasons... pension, a sensible tt with fewer or no split classes, regularity to name a few. And of course salary.
All the best Grin

Exactly my position last May. I am now settled in my new school on my UPS 3 salary. PM me if you want to.

Mammyloveswine · 21/02/2020 14:05

I'm applying for a full time position and a promotion...

I am ready to take the next step in my career is all I've put on my application which covers all sorts!

Mammyloveswine · 21/02/2020 14:07

Obviously I've put all the details about my experience etc but I haven't felt he need to make a big deal about going from part time to full time...

PotteringAlong · 21/02/2020 14:09

Why do you need to explain the move from part time to full time? Just apply.

BashandWhizz · 21/02/2020 17:46

Thanks everyone. Sewing how do I pm?

No need to explain why you want to change from PT. in fact I’d mention the fact you’re currently PT as little as possible to be honest; don’t want them thinking you’d be wanting to drop days as soon as you got the job. Just whack loads of concrete examples of things you’ve done in your letter and interview answers. If they want an experienced teacher they’ll pay for one. If they can’t afford you they they can’t afford you, end of. Not much you can do except refuse to be apologetic and humble about it - you deserve your pay point and have earned it. When I got my current job I moved sector and they weren’t obliged to pay me on UPS3, but the principal said clearly he’d pay me on that point but wasn’t expecting me to need any support and wanted me to support the HoD from the start. Something I was happy to do and the role I wanted anyway.

I have twice moved from a part-time post to a full time and no one in either of the interview panels mentioned the part time/full time change.
Happily this was in the glorious days of pay-portage so I didn't have to justify my financial worth!

Not heard anything back so think that's a done deal. Gutted tbh.

There's still plenty of time to hear back. It can take a while in some cases.

BashandWhizz · 24/02/2020 20:25

Interview is supposed to be on Wednesday.
