What career paths are there for me?

Hello, I wanted to ask some people t H at are experienced within the education sector for ideas on what career paths could be open to me?

I've recently changed career to become an SEN one to one TA, I'm late 30's with a young child myself.

I've always wanted to work with children and would like to specialise in special needs, I'm enjoying the job but the downside is pay is pretty much half what I used to earn.

Is there possibility for career progression where you can earn more? I'm educated to A level, no degree.

You could complete your PGCE and work in special schools, or some schools have a non teaching assistant SENDCo role to support the SENDCo. You could also look at completing a postgraduate certificate/diploma to be qualified to assess for some specific learning difficulties. Obviously some of those routes would require you to work enough in the field to get more experience

You could do a degree via open University while you work, or just go to uni full time as loans etc are available.

To be a, teacher, realistically, you need a degree. It is possible to work and study simultaneously for sure.

Thank you for your replies, I've been considering doing an OU degree so will look into that further.

I'm unsure about that, perhaps a degree in education. I'm unsure if you can do a pgce specifically for SEN children, but I'm unsure. I'd call a provider and ask, they're usually quite helpful.

Or email them. But if you wanted something specific, like music, art etc choose those.
