Moving from private secondary back to state

Am I crazy to consider it? I have a TLR I don't want anymore due to lack of slt support but still being held responsible. The thought of continuing for another year fills me with dread. My contract includes the TLR so I can't just resign that. I've seen a job I want, teaching my (shortage subject) specialism. My current school pays less than the normal pay scales, so by moving back to state (even at M6 rather than UPS) I'd be paid the almost same but without the additional responsibility. Workload is a concern, of course. The latest ofsted claims that teachers feel slt take workload seriously and take steps to reduce it, but obviously I can't know how accurate that is.

My other options are to either try to negotiate resigning just the TLR (but I don't really know how to go about that) or to leave teaching altogether (always tempting at this time of year).

I did this a few years ago and promptly stopped teaching. Won't ever go back either. Think very, very carefully about this jump...
