Flurry of interviews coming up for dd who has applied for primary education degree,
She has worked with children as a sports coach for 4 years and is certain this is what she wants to do.We are a non teaching family so any advice on what they may ask her about, current issues etc would be gratefully received. Many thanks

Honestly, look for a different career. Have you seen the recruitment and retention rates of teachers? I know that's not the answer you wanted but it's my honest one. Neither of my DDs intend to teach, they see the long hours I work compared to their father...
Helpful answer - look at Times Educational Supplement for current issues. Look at Ofsted inspection framework to see what schools are effectively working to. Google a job advert for an NQT job to see what schools will be looking for at the end of her training and think about how she will be working towards that.

As a teacher who is very happy in the profession I certainly wouldn’t dissuade her from her vocation but I would strongly recommend that she studies for a discrete degree and then takes one of the many routes to QTS. Hopefully she will love teaching but a degree in primary education is very limiting if she decides that she wants to try something else; better to stay because she loves it than because she is trapped.

I thoroughly enjoyed my primary Ed degree -not everyone I trained with went onto being teachers and several joined graduate schemes in other careers

An awareness of safeguarding is a must
Be prepared to talk about work experience in school (I'm assuming she's done a couple of weeks)
Many unis will give areas to discuss at interview -make sure she understands what they are asking and be prepared to discuss in a group setting, lots of interviews are group rather than 1:1

If there is a faith affiliation to the uni think about how the ethos is affected and how she can support that ethos in relation to education
