Reward system for class

I'm looking to change the reward system we have in class (I inherited it) we have 7 stars the children must earn to choose an activity. But any wrong doing results in a lost star that can never be regained. So if first lesson goes badly for one of them then theres no incentive to earn any more stars! I think it's a little harsh too- think I'd struggle to be perfect for the entire day everyday or by judged!
What systems do you have in place? We do have SEND children too.

Our primary used the Good to be Green scheme

I like class dojo, we give lots of dojos for all sorts of reasons and take them away too. The children always have the chance to earn them back though. We have a weekly shop where they can buy small prizes or they can save up for a bigger reward like a whole class treat or extra computer time.

I used to have star charts, and once they got 10 stars, they got a 'reward' and then started again - so you didn't end up with one child on 487 whilst another child was only on 13 - no-one would have a clue on the 'start chart' if this was your first strip of starts or your 8th.
You could only 'earn' stars, once earned, they can't be taken away.
You could get a star for anything - might be "work" but might be kindness or trying really hard or anything - there is always something you can find to celebrate.

We have Class Dojo but don't use any of the parental involvement stuff. We add and take off dojos and it works very well. At the end of each term we give a little prize for the person with the most dojos

Class Dojo here.

How old are the children? I'd say they have to earn a set number of stars (probs 10) to get a treat and that's it. So some kids might get 10 stars in two days, some might earn them over a week. Everyone will get a treat at some point (so nobody is written off) but wanting more frequent treats gives all children the incentive to behave as well as they can.

No removal of stars ever. Current poor behaviour cannot wipe out previous good behaviour. No "earning back" of stars because good behaviour doesn't erase bad behaviour - and some kids learn quick that being badly behaved is worth it because they can just earn it back later.

We have table points. Children have chosen a name for their table & they earn points as a table. At the end of the week the winning table is announced & they get given a trophy for their desk, a treat each & also the responsibility of being class helpers for the following week. We never take points off a table. Seems to work well & children love earning a point for their table (could be for something as simple as sitting quietly ready for registration or trying hardest on a task) x

Class dojo seems very good to me. I like the fact the points can be logged for different reasons, kids seem to like it and it is easy to use.

However all I would say on the subject and this applies to any reward system is please remember to be consistent. If you award points for work to one child for something then you should really do it for the others too. If it is for extra special effort or personal achievement then that is different but children do notice they dont get points for the same things as others even though have been equally well behaved or tried just as hard etc. Some kids just seem to get overlooked and I think with reward systems we do need to try hard to make sure we dont miss some children from it and over reward others.
