Support worker EYFS

Hi,
I have an interview end of the month for EYFS support worker. This is a new career for me so need a little advice.
The interview instructions says there will be questions followed by an observation, linking this to EYFS. Can anyone tell me what this might be? It doesn't say I have to take anything with me. Last interview said to take an activity but this one hasn't. It's in a day nursery so not a school.
Thanks in advance. Smile

It may be that you have to do an observation on a child and link that to the Eyfs areas of development.

Thanks for your reply. So, take in an activity to do with the child/children that would link to the EYFS? Sorry I'm totally new at all this so haven't a clue what to expect.

No, I wouldn't have thought you need an activity, unless they've specifically asked for one. If it says you need to do an observation I would have thought you need to observe a child in the setting, whatever they are doing, and write up an observation, linking it to the Eyfs. Have they given you an indication of the age group? Read up the areas of development and age band statements and maybe print off a copy to take. I wouldn't have thought they'd expect you to know them inside out but you should have a reasonable understanding of what is covered under each area.

If you are very new to the Eyfs, focus on the prime areas, so psed, communication and language and physical development, but make sure you have an idea about the specific areas you might be able to mention to.

I imagine that they will observe how you interact with the children.

Thanks this has helped me a lot! No they haven't said. It's a day nursery with age range 1-5 years, and they haven't said anything else apart from the interview will be 30 mins long and consist of questions and an observation linking to the EYFS. I'm still doing my level 2 support teaching and learning but it is due to end November, so my mind is still kind of fresh on the whole EYFS curriculum, but I was unsure as to what they would observe me on but what you've said makes sense. I volunteer with reception at the moment, so have a little idea on how that age group learn.

I would telephone and ask them to clarify.
We will all only be guessing. It would be a shame to miss out because you weren't prepared if they did want you do do something specific.
