So what are you looking forward to in the holiday?

For me, minimal alarms.
Being able to eat / go to the loo / fart (Blush) when I want, plus of course being able to do what I want, when I want (I don't wear a watch in the holidays, so I know I'm truly having a break from the minute by minute countdown).
How about you? Smile

I'm looking forward to sleep! I'm so tired and one night is not going to fix it! Also reading!

Bobbiepin · 16/07/2019 23:01

Peeing when I want (toddler permitting)
Sleeping (4 hour nap last week)
Reading (1 book down)
Showering without rushing, maybe doing a deep conditioning treatment on my hair or a face mask that I never have time for.
People telling me how easy teachers have it and how nice it must be to have the Summer off.

Oh wait....

mineofuselessinformation · 16/07/2019 23:06

Ah yes, sleep.......
And a bath any time of day that I like (I love a nice bath!) Smile

Not having an ear-piercing ‘bell’ demand my every movement like pavlov’s dog

mnahmnah · 16/07/2019 23:10

However, with my own young children I still won’t get any more sleep, or peace. Going to work seems like a rest! I actually get to go to the loo without a child following me and finish a cup of tea too

PumpkinPie2016 · 17/07/2019 19:03

Reading books that aren't textbooks, going on holiday for 2 weeks of relaxation, spending time with DH and DS.

Having some time to organise the house, watch tv and not have to follow a schedule!

mineofuselessinformation · 17/07/2019 19:49

mnahmnah, (would it be do-do-be-doey after that? Grin)
Are they in childcare? Could you have some time to yourself that way?
Another look-forward-to for me is catching up on series I like.

Spending time with my DD! I really love the school holidays for this reason. But I won’t get any extra sleep and she’ll be in childcare at least one day a week so I can do school work!

mamaduckbone · 17/07/2019 20:11

Being outside as much as possible.
Reading.
Seeing the dcs (although the teenager will be out more than in).
Sleeping until I wake up and getting into a natural sleep pattern - not a natural early riser.
The list goes on. I truly live for the summer holidays.

mnahmnah · 17/07/2019 20:28

mine

Term-time only contract with our childminder! Great cost-wise. Bad for me-time. However, I work full-time, so want to spend all my holidays with them.

And yes, it would be do—do—di-dooey after that! The joys of the muppets on repeat in the car Grin

However, we decamp to the wilderness at the mum’s every holidays, as DH is not a teacher. I look forward to the kids going feral, I give up on hair and make-up, wear leggings, fleece and wellies. It takes a bit of a makeover to get back into work mode!

mnahmnah · 17/07/2019 20:32

*my mum’s

DrMadelineMaxwell · 18/07/2019 23:58

Not having to get 2 teens and myself up early every day.
Fitting in more 'me' time - I've joined a different gym for the holidays as a change.
Reading LOTS of books that have nothing to do with education.
Spending plenty of time with my teens - particulary the 18yo who is off to uni in Sept. Going to miss her!
Time to 'spring' (summer) clean my house.
Decorate at least one room, potentially 3. I usually make a big DIY list for the start of the hols and see what I can get through.
A big de-clutter.

Also
Getting my head round the new 'maths mastery' scheme.
Sorting paperwork for my new class - which I can do from home online.
Potentially going into class to sort my huge walk in cupboard and classroom - although I've been busting a gut this week to avoid having to go in at all, getting all the sorting done this week instead.

Teaching myself the new specifications that I’ll be teaching in my new job. Thankfully the GCSE is the same as previous job, and am teaching parts of the spec I know inside out so that’s a relief 😅I haven’t taught A level for a while so need to do some work to get up to speed. Have already started trawling online resources and revision guides and pulled in favours from friends in other schools who’ve sent me stuff across. Need to do some serious decluttering around the house, but am sending DCs to an activity camp next week so will have days free to do some of that. I love no alarm clocks and lazy mornings drinking tea Smile Brew

mineofuselessinformation · 22/07/2019 20:50

Just coming back to say that at this moment in time, the only thing I am looking forward to is a massive lay-in, in a cool house..... 28 degrees today in my room despite 8 windows open and two fans going. Angry (colour and expression both intended - being menopausal in this heat is not amusing me.)
On the bright side - two days to go! Smile

mnahmnah · 23/07/2019 17:22

Blimey, you’re still in school?! We broke up on Friday. Currently Glamping in this heat!!!

mineofuselessinformation · 23/07/2019 18:43

Yup. Sad

Lots of us are still limping on. I have my eyes fixed on 2pm tomorrow.

GentleBen · 23/07/2019 20:07

Eggs for breakfast!

MoistOwlette · 24/07/2019 10:46

Hang on in there! The first Monday that doesn't require any prep is DIVINE. You will make it!

Since EoT, I've had a proper lazy breakfast with my DC and gone back to bed for several naps in one day. Little things!

mineofuselessinformation · 24/07/2019 16:21

I made it - just....
Wine tonight!
Cheers. 🍷

OP posts:
mamaduckbone · 24/07/2019 21:24

Last day today for me too! The thought of no alarm tomorrow is bliss. Planning on doing absolutely nothing.

mineofuselessinformation · 24/07/2019 22:48

To all that have now broken up - have a fabulous break! Grin

OP posts:
wonderpants · 25/07/2019 05:48

4 more days to go!
It is insane!
I'm looking forward to sleep, restarting my diet and not eating a constant buffet of sugar.

mnahmnah · 25/07/2019 07:45

You have 4 days left?! I assume you go vs I later in September? We finished last Friday and go back on the 2nd
