So deflated

I’m a trainee looking for 1st job.

I’ve just had a total meltdown 😫 I think the stress has finally got to me.
It started this morning at 7:30 when I was doing my daily check for job vacancies, I usually stick to the tes and council websites but once every couple of weeks I do a check on local school websites, which I did this morning. I found a vacancy in my very local, amazing school and would never have dreamt that a job would come up there! Application deadline was 9am this morning 😫 I had just over an hour to get application in and I failed! I sent them a shitty application with no personal statement or covering letter, explained my predicament and have asked for an extension until this afternoon. I then cried! I have never felt so deflated, a brilliant opportunity has slipped through because I didn’t see it in time. I feel so crushed and so shit right now. But when I cried I just couldn’t stop, it was all coming out, all built up over months of stress!

Don’t beat yourself up about it. Flowers The fact that the school only advertised on its own website might mean they’ve got someone else in mind. Keep looking and something even better will come up. X

Thank you thunder That’s what my husband said too

What Thunder said. If they've chosen not to advertise it more widely, they didn't want a wide field. Probably they already have someone in mind.

Training is monumentally stressful. Did having a cry make you feel any better?

It will get easier in June because teachers won be able to resign to leave at the end of term.

SnowsInWater · 16/04/2019 22:29

I agree with everyone else, that is already somebody's job but they have to go through the motions. Good luck with the job search xx

jamtart30 · 17/04/2019 06:38

Have you checked out eteach?

Soontobe60 · 17/04/2019 06:50

I would suggest you also sign up with a supply agency. We have had 2 NQTs this way.

ScafellPoke · 17/04/2019 07:16

Thanks everyone. Yeah crying did make me feel better, but I did feel so shit at the time!

I look on eteach too.

Will look in to supply agencies, thanks

Totally agree with PP. If they've only advertised on the school website in the holidays, they don't actually want any applicants. Don't beat yourself up, they didn't mean you to see it!
