Interview Questions

I posted on here last week about a school visit I went on. I received lots of helpful advice. I now have the formal interview. Could anyone advise me on the questions I might be asked? I had taught for 5 years but am a bit rusty on interview technique.

I had an interview last week and I didn’t get the job and that has knocked my confidence.

Definitely a safeguarding question I think. Maybe a what would you do if scenario.
Something that worked/didn’t work in a lesson?
Good luck!

My first question was 'why do you want to work here?' It may sound simple but completely threw me!!!! Definitely a safeguarding question But I am afraid the rest is a blur! A tip I once got was to refer any answers back to your personal experience. Have confidence in yourself and good luck!

Thanks everyone! At the last one I was asked what I would do if I saw a teacher doing something I didn’t agree with what would I do? I said I would follow the school’s policy but they didn’t seem satisfied, can anyone help with that one?

I guess if it was a teacher, you would go to the head. If you didn’t feel the head handled it well enough you would go to the governors.
I think you also have the right to go straight to police/social services etc if you felt the situation was serious enough.

I would say it depends massively on context. Say they were putting a student in their car I'd report to the safeguarding lead. Say they were not following the rules eg allowing phones I'd probably discuss directly with them. Say they were doing something unusual in a lesson I might ask to observe them, I could talk to them and either one of us could learn something.

How would you engage difficult / reluctant learners in your class?
