Sometimes I feel like I know too much!

DD is in P1 (Reception equiv.) in Scotland. Her class seem generally tricky- two very high-profile children and some who are quite headstrong. I haven't been terribly impressed with the standard of things tbh.

They had a student in Term 1, which I thought was ridiculous. I wouldn't have accepted a student that term. Her teacher has some sort of leadership role and they are covered by a different member of staff nearly every week. Now they have another student.

It's so frustrating because I have taught P1 for so many years and I would do things so differently. Her school gets a good rep (certainly better than mine, ironically) but it's just niggling at me.

Been there all this year with DD2's teacher - and again, students out of the eyeballs (I initially got annoyed with this but the students have put more effort in than the flipping class teacher who is coasting wherever she can get away with it). In the end we've had issues with her lying outright about DD2's SEN provision and the SENCO pulling things back into line - but by heck it's a grim and frustrating situation and it's really done a number on my own mental wellbeing this year.

I'm doing a lot of smiling through gritted teeth this year and keep repeating the mantra that DD2 is happy (finally - we've had issues with social problems quite badly as well) and we seem to have reached a bit of an uneasy truce - but it is not shaping up to be a fun year. Annoying as fuck because 99.9% of the teaching in that school is bloody superb with fantastic people - it's just this one and I can blooming well see what she's been trying to get away with! (Also had lots of problems with her suddenly deciding none of the kids with SEN needed their planned provision anymore and in the end I had to put my big girl pants on and take that one up with the SENCO for the sake of all the kids in the class)

My own DD is happy enough but you're totally right about the gritted teeth. The first student wasn't bad as such, but was obviously just a student trying to find her feet at a really delicate settling in point for the children.

I am sorry you had to deal with all of those issues. Must be so trying.

In our school we wouldn't be allowed take two students in the one year. Surprised school sanctioned that. We are always under pressure to catch up when a student leaves . Having another one would be crazy.
