So I had two babies in two years and have been back a term after maternity leave number 2. (I took 6 months both times).

I'm currently part-time but working 5 days. I am running the pre-school and doing some interventions with reception.

However the year one teacher has announced they are leaving at the end of the year and I am thinking of approaching my head to ask about a move into year one, full time. My youngest will be almost 2 when I would start and my husband has two days off through the week so would only need childcare for 3 days.

I am at the top of the pay scale and lookinh to move to the upper pay scale. I would like to progress in my career and lead early years. I therefore think a year or two in year one following 6 years in nursery/reception/pre-school would be a wise move...

Does it sound like it? Should I ask for a move to reception (I doubt thst would be approved unless the reception teachers suddenly announce they're leaving!).

I am aware of the workload implications however we are also totally skint and with their daddy being off through the week it seems the right time for me to think about going back full time...

Anyone done similar?

Ask about Year 1. If you're looking to move into leadership, having an understanding of where they need to get to. In addition, the year 1 curriculum is becoming more and more EYFS friendly.
Your HT will also be glad to have yr1 sorted for September now!
