What's your class's girl-boy split?

Nursery class in local primary school. 24 children
18 boys
6 girls

(Last year 26 kids, 18:8 B:G)

I have a Scottish P1 class with the same ratio.

Within that there are three children with autism (2 diagnosed and 1 definitely on the spectrum) and 16 EAL children.

I have one TA who is effectively a 1-1 and out of the classroom 80% of the time.

I am utterly exhausted.

Highland... that sounds really tough. I'm not surprised you're exhausted

My DC are in Yr 2 & 4 and one has a 15/15 split (with a 15/14 in the parallel class) and the other a 15/16 split (with a 14/16 in the parallel class). The years above them are similar but Yr 1 is 2/3 girls and R is 3/4 girls. It seems odd that it has swung so suddenly.

Years 1-4 mixed age class:
Year 1 - 5 girls
Year 2 - 5 girls, 2 boys
Year 3 - 1 girl, 6 boys
Year 4 - 3 girls, 2 boys
So...a 14/10 split.

Year 4 - 17 girls, 11 boys.

And "only" 11 EAL (but one new one next week). My teacher and I find it funny that only in our school would you consider 11 EAL children in one class as not very many - we had 18 out of 27 last year.

Boy-heavy classes can be hard work, but I much prefer dealing with the typical "boy stuff" that comes up, than the problems that can arise from too few girls. If they're having friendship issues, it's better to have a wider pool of girls to find other friends.

I teach one of my DS's classes, only one a week. There are 13 boys and 4 girls. They would be year 1 in UK. 3 of the 4 girls are harder work than all the boys put together.

My other children are Year 4 - 6 boys/ 7 girls, Year 8 - 8 girls/ 8 boys and Year 10 - 7 boys/9 girls.

We have all the girls!
