Sunday morning dread - in the holidays!

I have had today in my head for the day I start getting to grips with work. Have had a solid week off. Strangely woke up with the dread in the pit of the stomach feeling. It’s only a few hours with the computer on! Weird how horrible it feels.

Only sharing my pain. I’ll be fine. My plan is a few hours a day when not ‘on holiday’ and any longer sessions I can get when/ if DC are on play dates (I have arranged some here in the hope of reciprocal offers...)

Yes yes yes to the dread! I feel its because I have to sit there wasting hours on pointless stuff that isn't beneficial to the children anyway. Even got the dread when I did 2 hours of laminating last week whilst watching TV.
Hope it isn't too awful - are you planning?

It won’t be awful really, it’s just the thought of it. I did two classroom days straight after we broke up and have to go in tomorrow to finish that. DC with me for that though - they love it!

Today I’m catching up on end of term stuff that didn’t happen by itself - updating pupil profiles and records etc. Planning is swilling around in my head as we’re doing a completely new curriculum so it needs lots of thought.

Best to do as long a period with no school stuff at all, as possible!

An hour here or there means you don't switch off.

Put that computer away for 4 weeks straight!

parrotonmyshoulder · 05/08/2018 07:26

Nah, can’t do that. Going away for the last fortnight. Children won’t let me do longer chunks so it’s a few hours here and there for me.

Aww bless you - must be awful having the dread in the holidays Sad

I'm usually ok until the last week and then I start getting the dread thinking about what needs to be done!

It's nice that your DC like helping you with your classroom - at least you don't have to do it on your own that way Smile

Make a list and do a set couple of hours a day and then enjoy your time off Smile

A week isn't long enough for me to get rid of the school feeling. Hope you feel more relaxed in a few more days, OP.
