Having time off before a holiday?

How bad does it look? I feel awful but I can’t face going back.

Time off sick you mean?

Some schools require you to have a doctor's note if your illness runs into the hols. That being said. Don't make yourself more ill. If that's what you need get yourself to the doctors.

It depends on the school/head and the illness.

Some will consider it an awful skive, good ones will be concerned about why it was necessary.

TBH before the summer I suspect everyone will have forgotten by the time you get back, it would only become a problem if it became a pattern (and someone is monitoring that)

Best advice would be to ask for a meeting to resolve the issues you're struggling with.

I have another job to go to. Although yes, obviously, I’d rather not leave on a bad note.

If you're not going back there's nothing to worry about imo. Any reference has to be factual, though you may be asked to provide consent so new employer can get absence info from the old school
