End of year presents

Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this as I'm not actually a teacher, but I have a question for teachers so hopefully it's not too cheeky!

I want to get a little something for the DC's teachers at the end of this year as they have both gone above and beyond. They're finishing R and Y1, and there've been operations and hospital stays, ASD diagnosis, and close family bereavement which the fantastic teachers have supported us through.

We're pretty skint at the moment so I can't manage much, and I'm very conscious that all the mugs and things marketed as thank you presents for teachers must be a bit awkward if you get 30+ at the end of each year!

I'd thought about getting the boys to make some fudge and doing it up in some nice bags/boxes. Along with a homemade card. Would that be something you would be happy with as an end of year present?

Just go for the card. That’s the bit that counts and that teachers will cherish. My favourite ones are the ones where the child has written something themselves and then the parent has added a thoughtful comment too.

It sounds like a lovely, thoughtful present which I promise you they will be delighted with.

I supported a member of my tutor group through some tough times. His mum wrote a realky thoughtful letter to me and sent a copy to the head. I treasure it.

Some teachers will not eat homemade stuff that kids have made. They will however thank you and be very touched by it.

Tbh I think a card from you or an email cc'ing the head is great. I keep a stash of cards from classes I've had over the years.

The heartfelt note ... every time. Honestly

Definitely, definitely the heartfelt note. Every time. If you feel you want to give something honestly stick a bottle of juice and a bar of chocolate in for the teachers snack on the last Monday of term. But always the lovely note. Always.

Thanks everyone. I'll definitely get the boys to write something and write something myself. I sent an email to the head in the run up to OFSTED last month to say how wonderful the teachers and TA's have been, which I know was much appreciated all round.

Thanks again
