Waiting to hear about job

Hi everyone, first time poster here. I’d a job interview on Friday morning - secondary English. I’ve heard absolutely nothing. Is it usual protocol to find out on the day? I’m in Northen Ireland, don’t know if this makes a difference. They didn’t mention at the interview when I would find out, nor was I given an opportunity to ask. I just want to know so I can move on Smile

I had an interview on a Friday and had an early morning call Monday morning to say i'd got the job!
Good luck for the morning! Let us know! 😊

Have you heard?

Ahostofgoldendaffodils · 11/06/2018 21:34

Nothing yet. I phoned this morning as I’m the most inpatient person in the world. Anyway, the receptionist said that she had been handed the paperwork that she then had to send to the Education Authority and they would then send out letters! At this stage I’m taking it as a no, surely a phone call would be made to the successful candidate? But NI is a small place and they may be playing it by the book and everyone will find out at the same time. I’m probably clutching at straws though. Arrrrrrr!

I have had two job interviews in NI and in my experience, sorry to say, they phone their chosen candidate on the evening of the interviews to let them know they are recommending them for the job although an official offer won't be made until a couple of weeks later from the EA. I then got a letter two weeks after interview to say I hadn't been successful. However, they did tell us at the interview that they would ring the successful candidate that evening to let them know so it may be different from yours (I'm primary). Fingers crossed it is a different outcome for you! Getting a teaching job in NI is like finding a needle in a haystack unfortunately Thanks

Thank you. Yes, I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I haven’t been successful but I would like to know sooner rather than later so I can move on. I only hope that the school I’ve applied for so things by the book and they’ll inform everyone at the same time. Clutching at straws again Smile

How did you get on &@Ahostofgoldendaffodils

I had an interview on the Thursday and they told me I would hear on Tuesday but they were looking for me on the Friday and phoned to ask where I was 😂 (Didn't work Fridays) and they gave my jobshare notice that day. Yet the other job took 13 days to tell the applicants if they were successful or not.
