Full time with three children?

I am currently 25 weeks pregnant with DC3. I teach secondary English years 7-13. Maternity leave starts in September and I will go back full time in June 2019, which should be manageable as there'll not be any exam classes.

My question is: would you continue with full time or request part time (0.6/8) from September 2019. Is full time possible with 3 DC bearing in mind the heavy markload for my subject? I was planning part time, but after reading the thread about being sidelined/limiting career opportunities I'm now not sure. Older DC will be 10 & 8 when this baby is born, if that makes any difference.

TIA.

Personally, I found working 60 hours a few not to be compatible with having small dc, and I went down to 0.6 after maternity leave with dc2. I've got 3 new jobs since then - one was a sideways move and 2 were promotions. I am Primary.
Only you will know though - you've already got 2 dc. It will depend (a lot) in your particular school, management team, and culture in the school. It will depend on what hours your dh works and what flexibility they have. It will depend on your commute. It will depend on how good your childcare is. It will depend on how good a sleeper your baby is, and how "high needs" all your dc are. It will depend if you want to get to know the friends, the staff at their schools, their friends parents, etc. (although if you've been FT until they are 10 and 8 you've probably already decided that isn't important to you). It will depend on if it is important to you to have some life outside of school and family.
People do it.
It wasn't for me.

I do it. Admittedly only 2dc (8 and 5 now but done it since they were 1). I'm also a single parent and HOD of a core subject.

It's hard. But definitely doable. I think my DC are fine too. They don't miss out because I work. I don't have the choice not to tbh.

I do full time with 2. A lot of people say they wouldn’t be able to cope but you actually can and it can be hard at times. Like you get home and just want to get the kids to bed so you can do your work etc. I’m less of a martyr to the job now. I’m there half an hour before school and leave straight after unless I have to be there for whatever reason. I don’t do residentials or anything that commits me to late evenings (unless I have to). And I work hard but I do my work at home

Will your school definitely give you part time ? Not all schools will even consider it

I do it. It's difficult and requires OH to do half of the domestic stuff. Thought about p/t but they can't guarantee a full day off and it's likely to change with timetable each year so wouldn't work well for childcare. Also thought i'd end up working on my day off so still working 5 days but paid for 4. I work when they're in bed and get up earlier than them if necessary.
