Are TA's all members of a union?

Just been reading through a few threads which made me think.
I have been a TA for a few years now and am not a member of a union. In fact it never occurred to me. I have no idea if any TA colleagues at school are members.
Is is common for TAs to be a member of a union? Is it advisable and if so why?
All advice gratefully received.

Yes, ours are mostly members of unison. It’s really important. You never know when your school will change pay and conditions or institute mass redundancies.

Hmmm. I think I had better get something sorted. Thanks.

NEU is £10 per year

Worth having

I wouldn't say if they change your job or someone accused you of something for example

Recently a member of staff was asked to write an incident report for the parents - he refused based on the fact it's not the protocol HT insisted - union rep agreed and stopped the issue - one phone call

I too think it is really important. Yes, it's important in terms of T&Cs that people belong to Unions, but more importantly, if you work closely with dc, you should for the legal representation and support if ever there were any accusations.

I wasn't until a chat with a lot of the more experienced TA's who are all members of GMB. Really important.

Thanks everyone.
